Character makeup | Creating characters
I bring characters to life through makeup, prosthetics and hairpieces, adapting each characterisation to the needs of your project.
I create realistic, fantastical, historical or entirely imaginary characters for audiovisual productions, theatre, photo shoots, events and creative projects.
I approach each transformation taking into account the character design, the period, the context of the story and the production’s needs. From ageing or a period characterisation to a fantasy creature, I can develop the character from the initial idea through to the final application.
Each project is studied individually to achieve a characterisation that is coherent, carefully crafted and adapted to the result you are looking for.
Creating characters:
To create a believable character, you have to work on the whole.
I can take care of developing the character’s appearance and coordinating the different elements needed to achieve the final result:
- Custom design: I develop the character’s appearance from your idea, script, references or production needs
- Makeup: Design and application of makeup adapted to the character’s personality, age, period and characteristics.
- Prosthetics and hairpieces: Elements designed or selected specifically to transform features.
- Accessories and effects: Contact lenses, teeth, nails, fake blood and other elements that help complete the character.
Characterisation for different sectors:
Theatre: I create makeup that accentuates the character’s features and expressions so they are visible from a distance and work under the stage lighting conditions
Photo shoots: Period or fictional characters for artistic and editorial photo shoots.
Audiovisual productions: If your production needs a complex character, a creature from another world, an actor aged up… count on me to make it happen. I have worked on short films, music videos, commercials and other productions.

Ageing and period looks
Transforming a character’s age takes more than adding wrinkles. I work on the proportions, volumes and features of the face to achieve a transformation consistent with the age the character needs.
I do ageing and de-ageing with makeup, makeup prosthetics and facial hairpieces.
I can also recreate different periods and styles through makeup and characterisation, from historical characters to fictional concepts inspired by a particular era.

Hairpieces for your character:
Hairpieces can completely transform a character’s appearance. I can help you select, adapt, make or source the pieces you need to complete your characterisation. Whether it is wigs styled the way you need or simple hairpieces such as beards and moustaches
Newly made hairpieces: If your character needs a specific piece, I can arrange for custom hairpieces such as beards, moustaches or other hair pieces to be made. You can choose the design and the hair colour you want, and it will be carefully knotted to give the piece a high level of detail. The pieces are made with attention to detail to achieve a natural finish and so they can be used on different occasions with proper care. Making time depends on the type of piece, its complexity and availability at the time. As a guide, a custom piece can take between one and four weeks.
Rental hairpieces: Some hairpieces and wigs I can rent out for one-off uses. I can source certain wigs and hairpieces for temporary use and, I take care of bringing the piece to the location, applying it and removing it at the end. The rental pieces available may have different levels of finish and detail depending on the model.

How is the quote put together?
Each characterisation project requires different planning. The quote is calculated taking into account the working time, the complexity of the character, the materials needed and other elements such as prosthetics, hairpieces, contact lenses, accessories or travel.
